From the first moment the Mediterranean facade, garden courtyard and inviting lobby of the Cypress Inn offers visitors a warm welcome and the promise of a delightful stay. Located in the heart of Carmel-by-the Sea just blocks from the village's famous beach, shops, galleries and restaurants, the Cypress Inn offers every comfort including recently remodeled rooms and the personal service of a thoughtful staff. Dogs and cats are welcome to join their owners. The Inn is owned by Doris Day and Dennis LeVett.
History
The Cypress Inn enjoys a rich history. In 1906, Sidney J. Yard, an artist known for painting watercolors in the English manner, built the first studio in Carmel on the site. The space was later used by another famous artist Miss DeNeale Morgan. In 1929 Dr. Rudolf Kocher, working with one of Carmel's premier contractors Hugh Comstock, constructed the present building. Known originally as the Hotel La Ribera, it was hailed in the local press when it opened as "one of the show places of the Monterey Peninsula." The name was later changed to the Cypress Inn.
Facilities
The Cypress Inn has 44 rooms on two floors, a large vaulted ceiling living room lobby, and beautifully landscaped courtyard both with fireplaces. Terry's Lounge is a great setting for a continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and appetizers and drinks each evening.

All rooms at the Cypress Inn include continental breakfast, robes, ironing board, iron, hairdryer and makeup mirror, complimentary fruit basket and cream sherry, am/fm/cd player, cable tv, voice mail and a dataport on the phone.
Teas are served from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, seven days a week. Reservations required.
Sundays are accompanied by the musical talents of Richard DeVink in the living room and patio.
