Wine from the Heart opened its doors on July 1, 2003 in Old Monterey directly across from the Doubletree Hotel (now the Portola Plaza Hotel) in the plaza. Wine from the Heart features small premier boutique wineries that produce some of the highest quality wines from California. As many of these labels will be new discoveries for most people, Wine From The Heart offers wine tasting everyday of the week. In addition, Wine from the Heart has engaged in its own line of "Private Label" wines exclusively produced for distribution through their shop. The very first private labeled wine is a classic Chardonnay which has been branded "All A Glo". To compliment the experience of visiting their shop, Wine from the Heart also offers a fine selection of custom glassware, wine gift baskets and boxes for all occasions, cheeses, chocolates, other wine related gourmet foods as well as Wine Art by Dan Koffman. Wine from the Heart is open from 10 to 6 every day. Wine from the Heart is currently operated by Nancy and Antonio  Rodriquez, local residents of the Monterey Bay Area that have a passion for fine wine.  They took over management of Wine from the Heart in October of 2007.

The orignal owners, Diane and Lloyd Smith, worked hard to find just the right location and partnership that would create a great place for people to visit and enjoy fine wine. Thanks to a fabulous relationship formed with the Portola Plaza Hotel Management and Staff, a foundation for success was firmly layed.

The wine inventory is now in excess of 2,500 bottles representing more than 200 unique labels. The specialty continues to be in California boutique premium wines that would normally be difficult to find.

The philosophy of Wine from the Heart about wine has always been to keep it simple - blue collar approach to tasting (if it tastes good to you then it's got to be right). Their philosophy about customers is that they are special guests for whom they would love to share their passion for Monterey, fine wine, gifts and special friends.
